Where Everybody Enjoyed Everybody

The Reunion where "everybody enjoyed everybody".

I sure hope blogger doesn't crash from photo overload!

We had TONS of help to decorate. Deanna Long Hansen had the prison inmates make the window banners, the wonderful "Find Your Way Back" airbrushed sheet which was the focal of the room, and the huge sign at the entrance to the Lodge. Thank you, Deanna. Tell the boys they are so very talented and we appreciate their giftings!

We had a surprise helper, well, several actually, but Tracey Kennedy dropped in to say hello and ended up doing all the "honey-dos" for the rest of the afternoon. He got a ladder and put up the big backdrop and finally, after much persistance, agreed to attend the reunion.

We had two special guest teachers, Bobbye and Robert (Coach) Earle, and one other teacher who came later in the evening, Nancy Moon Hearne.

Rodney Rivers gave a wonderful toast, Bill Nevela talked about 1981 headlines and tied things in with "what were you doing then?", the Earles spoke, then Chris reflected on our journey to the reunion and introduced a 17 minute DVD slideshow, that everyone in the reunion received a copy of. Mark Babb shared about surviving a near fatal car accident, that coincidentally Glynda Aulds made the 911 call for. Where you guys aware that our class being the first First-Grade class to be integrated - which makes the class if 1981 the FIRST class to complete 12 years together after the intergration in 1969. See, I think we were meant to be trend-setters.

Our dinner was catered by LBK's Resturant in Farmerville and cakes were provided by the Corner Coffee Shop in West Monroe. We had Ed Young and his friend work the check-in table for us (we told you that we would have two burley men acting as bouncers, remember?) We were fortunate that the DJ, Shannon Futch was available for our reunion, and everyone commented on how great the music was. One of the classmates spouse sent us a message this week saying she hasn't ever seen anything like that before, where everybody enjoyed everybody". What a weekend.

Here are some long-awaited photos!
